Australia played Japan yesterday and comfortably put them away in a result everyone was expecting. It was good to see us win but like some of the other fans and supporters in the stands the game did lack some of the emotion of Saturday's England game.
Japan are.... interesting. Very keen, very serious and know in theory what they should be doing, just seem to lack the skills and experience to carry it out. I think I had a similar discussion regarding their team two years ago at the Worlds - they play technically correct lacrosse but seem to lack the experience to know when to change the play book on the run.
This game, as much as I would like to rave about it and talk up the Australian team was slightly forgetful. As posted earlier the 'big kids' of USA and Canada went into extra time later that same afternoon so the comfortable win against, what is to be honest a lower ranked team, does not really call up many highlights. I think the boys deserved it, they without a doubt wanted it and I feel they in someway felt that after three straight losses they needed to go out and prove to themselves they are a competitive Blue Division team.
Australia play Iroquois at 1600 today and must beat them well to finish top four within the pool.
